Mandurah MP Rhys Williams said the 2026-27 State Budget is one of the best that Mandurah has seen in a long time.
It was announced the new Peel Health Campus will be fully-funded through the State Government's $2 billion Building Hospitals Fund.
"The particular highlight (of the state budget) is a fully funded new Mandurah hospital," he told West Coast Radio.
"This is a project the community have been calling for, for a long time.
"We announced last year that we'd move from a redevelopment (of the existing Peel Health Campus) to a brand new hospital, and to see if fully funded in the budget and to see construction get underway this year is something that I'm really excited about."
The new hospital will be built on the vacant site next to the existing hospital in Greenfields.
Construction is expected to be complete by 2029.
Also in the 2026-27 Budget is $20 million for a new netball facility in Mandurah along with the extension of indoor courts at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre.
"There's more than 3000 young people across Mandurah and the Peel that play netball and the facility that they've been playing on are pretty antiquated, so this investment for a new netball complex will really mean the world to those players and construction will get underway shortly," Mr Williams said.
Cost-of-living relief will also be delivered through a range of initiatives including a $100 fuel support payment for all Western Australians with a driver's licence.
Student Assistance Payments are also being rolled out again which will see families receive $150 for each primary school student and $250 for each high school student.
Fee-free and lower fee TAFE courses will again be on offer to locals looking to study and enter the workforce.
Several local schools including Falcon Primary School, Jarrahdale Primary School, and Marri Grove Primary School will also share in $41.1 million in funding for various upgrades to their undercover areas, courts, play areas, STEM facilities, and parking.
Air-conditioning upgrades will also be fully-funded at Pinjarra Primary School and Serpentine Primary School while $12.1 million will go towards a new early childhood education block at Byford Primary School.
