A Bunbury man has been charged after an alleged rampage that saw an elderly man attacked with a tomahawk and two women and a child threatened.
According to police, two 20-year-old women and a two-year-old child were driving on Westwood Street in Withers on Wednesday night when they noticed a Honda CRV sitting idle on the road.
They stopped and one of the women went to check on the male driver, who allegedly became aggressive and smashed a window of his car with a tomahawk.
The woman, who is pregnant, feared for her safety and ran back to her friend's car and drove away.
The man allegedly followed the women in his car, ramming their vehicle several times before they sought refuge in the driveway of a home on Armstrong Way.
An elderly man came to help the women, but he was knocked to the ground by the man, who had since exited the vehicle armed with the tomahawk.
The man then allegedly threatened to kill the 72-year-old man striking out at him with the tomahawk.
He was taken to Bunbury Hospital by ambulance for treatment to a shoulder injury.
Police will further allege the man continued to act aggressively, threatening to sexually assault and kill the two women and child.
Officers were called to the scene around 9.30pm and arrested the man.
It will be alleged the Honda he was driving was stolen during a burglary earlier in the day in Leederville.
Drugs and weapons were also allegedly found inside the car.
A 27-year-old man from the Bunbury area has been charged with a string of offences including threatening to kill, being armed in a way to cause fear, aggravated assault, possession of drugs and failing to comply with a request for a blood/urine sample.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Bunbury Magistrates Court today.
