Cardinal George Pell has been found guilty of five counts of historical child sex abuse, following a trial in Melbourne.
A jury delivered the verdict on December 11, but it could not be reported on due to a suppression order, which has today been lifted.
Pell, who is Australia's highest-ranking Catholic, has been convicted of raping a choirboy and molesting another in Melbourne's St Patrick's Cathedral in 1996.
The 77-year-old maintains his innocence and has already launched an appeal.
Pell is currently on bail and will be sentenced in March.
