Christmas lights will be switched on in Rockingham this week with local residents invited to come along and celebrate the arrival of the festive season.
The Christmas Lights Launch will be held on Friday, December 8 at Churchill Park on the Rockingham Foreshore from 5pm – 8.30pm.
The event will include festive fun for families of all ages including a visit from Santa, on-stage and roaming entertainment, children’s activities, an synthetic ice rink (also available on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 December along with Santa), a sensory-friendly chill-out zone, food vendors, market stalls, a snow pit, and the switching on of the Christmas lights at 8pm.
City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin encouraged community members to head down to the Rockingham Foreshore and celebrate the spirit of Christmas.
“Seeing the Christmas lights get turned on throughout the Beach Plaza, Churchill Park, the Boardwalk and up Railway Terrace is always an exciting moment - and is one that the City of Rockingham community eagerly anticipates each year,” Mayor Hamblin said.
“Whether you want to go ice-skating, enjoy live on-stage entertainment or play in the snow pit, there is something for everyone at the City’s Christmas Lights Launch.
“We hope to see community members enjoying themselves at Churchill Park on Friday 8 December, and the City gratefully thanks sponsor Lotterywest for its support of this popular community event.”
