Construction is underway on a $10.38 million major upgrade at Pinjarra Senior High School.
A new state-of-the-art performing arts centre and sports hall is being built at the 100-year-old school.
The performance space will include areas for drama, dance and music including a green room, kitchen facilities, staff areas, storage, a front of house area, a bio-box, an extensive gallery and exhibition space, and a 209 seat theatre and dance studio.
The new sports hall features internal courts, individual change rooms and toilets for staff and students, with associated lockers and equipment stores.
Bunbury-based architectural firm MCG Architects designed the new facilities.
"I am excited for the students and staff at Pinjarra Senior High School who are one step closer to being able to enjoy these fantastic new facilities," Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery said.
"The new building will provide a modern home base to support the arts and physical education learning areas."
