Mandurah will play host to some of the state's best junior surfing talent this weekend with the second event of the WA Junior Surfing Titles.
Over 100 competitors from as far south as Albany all the way to Carnarvon will compete in the second event of the WA Junior Surfing Title.
Leading the local charge on home soil will be April McPherson (Falcon), Connor Gaiger (Secret Harbour), Phoenix and Maverick Wilson (Wannanup), as well as Macklin and Aidan Flynn (Dawesville), all competing for a place at the Australian Junior Surfing Titles in New South Wales in November.
High Performance Coaches from each of the state's surfing regions (Metro, Peel, South-West, Great Southern and Mid-West) will be attending to mentor their groups of young surfers, providing critical on-beach feedback and coaching during the event.
“The weekend offers another great opportunity to demonstrate the effectiveness of our high performance program which is now in it's fourth year as a state-wide program," Surfing WA's Sports Development Manager Tom Dickson said.
"Our HP coaches come with a wealth of competition experience and will be pushing their surfers to maximise their performance and state rankings.”
A building swell and favourable winds are forecast for the region.
The action will kick off at 7am Saturday at Avalon Point, with finals to be held on Sunday.
