The major party candidates for the Secret Harbour by-election have been unveiled with the political battle ramping up ahead of polling day on August 29.
One Nation has put forward Luke Herdegen as their candidate.
The 39-year-old from Rockingham owns multiple Anytime Fitness gyms in the southern suburbs and is a former national weightlifting champion.
"Over the last three years, running these gyms has given him the chance to get to know countless locals and hear firsthand what really matters to them," One Nation WA State Leader Rod Caddies said.
"One Nation selected Luke from a pool of 88 applicants. His experience, honesty, and genuine connection to the community made him the clear standout to run and win Secret Harbour."
The Greens have preselected Rhi Davies as their candidate.
The mother-of-three, who works in personal fitness, said her focus is on housing and stopping AUKUS.
"I’m an active community organiser, defence spouse of many years, and a local mum of three teenagers," she said.
"I have watched as so many people in Secret Harbour are struggling with housing and cost of living crises.
"I’ve watched as both the Liberals and Labor have tied our future more and more closely to Trump’s war machine through dodgy AUKUS deals, putting defence families like ours a Tweet away from being drawn into another war. I am sick of watching the major parties ignore everyday people, and I want to do something about it."
The Liberals officially unveiled City of Rockingham councillor Ryan Robertson as their candidate.
The 35-year-old said it is time for change in the electorate.
"We've been such a safe seat for so long...typically the funding doesn't come to safe seats so there needs to be a challenge to that and I think we're going to bring that to the Labor party," Robertson told reporters on Sunday.
“My priority is simple. It is to focus on the people of Secret Harbour."
The father-of-three is a former submariner in the Royal Australian Navy.
Previously announced candidates were Georgia Tree for Labor and Craig Buchanan for the Legalise Cannabis WA Party.
The Secret Harbour by-election will be held on August 29.
