Elderly North Pinjarra woman hands over $10k cash to scammers

Can you identify this man? PIC: WA Police

Mandurah Detectives are looking for a man who was allegedly involved in a scam targeting an 89-year-old North Pinjarra resident.

The woman allegedly handed over $10,000 cash to a man who attended her home about 4.50pm on Wednesday, July 1.

It happened after she had been deceived by a person claiming to be from a bank's fraud department.

Detectives have released an image of a man who they would like to speak to.

The image depicts the man walking on Wandoo Drive towards Carcoola Avenue shortly before he attended the victim's property.

Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who was in the North Pinjarra area between 4pm and 5pm on Wednesday, 1 July 2026, and may have dash-cam footage, CCTV vision, or who saw the man or any vehicle he may have been travelling in.

Police are reminding the community to remain vigilant against scams and fraud attempts.

Scammers often impersonate banks, government agencies or trusted organisations and create a false sense of urgency to convince victims to withdraw money, disclose personal information or hand over cash to a courier.
