Lotto luck has struck for 15 Perth workmates whose weekly syndicate has delivered them a $4.2 million win.
Each member of the syndicate, who have been playing together for more than 10 years, will collect almost $285,000.
The syndicate said the win could not have come at a better time after more than half the members had been made redundant.
“It was starting to look pretty tough financially for quite a few of us,” one member said.
“We have school fees, mortgages and just your day-to-day bills to pay so this couldn’t have come at a more perfect time."
The coordinator of the syndicate said when she first heard a Division 1 winner had been sold at the same Yokine outlet she had purchased the ticket from, she was almost certain it was not them.
“I was sure we didn’t have one of the winning numbers and thought to myself those ‘lucky buggers’,” the woman said.
“It wasn’t until I checked my ticket in-store that I realised we were the lucky buggers."
The $4.2 million winning ticket was sold from Flinders Square Lucky Lotto in Yokine and was the nation’s only Division 1 winner in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.
