A police officer has been stabbed in Gosnells overnight.
Police will allege a 46-year-old man, armed with a knife, was threatening self-harm outside Gosnells Police Station around 3am on Friday.
After negotiations with the man failed, officers attempted to physically disarm the man and subdue him.
During the struggle, a male sergeant was allegedly stabbed in the lower leg.
He was taken to Armadale Hospital and received several stitches to the wound.
The officer has since been discharged from hospital.
The 46-year-old man was also taken to hospital for a health assessment and is now in police custody assisting with inquiries.
