Two high school students from Comet Bay College in Secret Harbour have been hailed heroes after saving three dogs trapped in the backyard of a burning home last week.
The fire erupted at the Nottely Crescent home around 12.30pm on Thursday, September 7.
Taj Smith and Josh Allan noticed smoke coming from the property and called triple-0 before jumping the backyard fence when neighbours told them there were pets trapped in the yard.
"The teens passed the three pooches over the fence to the gathering onlookers and used the garden hose to douse the flames until firefighters arrived," a Comet Bay College spokesperson said.
"Taj and Josh said the owners, who arrived to find their home engulfed in flames, were “very grateful” for the pet rescue. Well done, boys!"
The fire was caused by an electrical fault.
