The search for a missing surfer believed to have been attacked by a shark at Kelp Beds surf break in Wylie Bay near Esperance has been called off for the day.
The possible shark attack was reported around 10.45am on Friday, just over an hour after a shark was sighted at the surf break.
Police have confirmed a surf board has been recovered from the water but the male surfer is yet to be found.
Wylie Bay has been closed to the public.
Police, St John Ambulance, Marine Rescue, Surf Life Saving WA and Fisheries officers assisted with Friday's search.
The search will resume at first light on Saturday.
Kelp Beds was the same area Singleton teenager Laeticia Brouwer was fatally attacked by a shark in April 2017.
