Alleged naked intruder shot by resident in Stake Hill

A Stake Hill resident has shot a man after he allegedly broke into his home.

Police say the occupants of the home on Evergreen Loop were disturbed by the alleged intruder, who was unknown to them, around 3.20am on Sunday, February 25.

One of the occupants, a man in his 50s, armed himself with a rifle and started checking the home.

The resident allegedly found the intruder who was naked and hiding in a bedroom wardrobe.

During a confrontation, the occupant allegedly shot the man.

"The man fled the address and the male occupant immediately reported the incident to police," a WA Police spokesperson said.

"Canine Section located the man a short distance away with a leg injury consistent with a gunshot. He was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.

"No occupants of the home were injured." 

The 27-year-old man has been charged with one count of aggravated home burglary and commit and one count of indecent dealing of a child under 13 years.  

He will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.

Inquiries remain ongoing.
