Pinjarra Senior High School's new $10.38 million performing arts centre and sports hall will be designed by Bunbury based architectural firm MCG Architects.
The performing arts centre and sports hall will include teaching spaces for music, drama and dance including a green room, music classroom and practice rooms, kitchen facilities, staff areas, secure storage, change rooms, student and staff toilets.
“The students and staff at Pinjarra Senior High School will thrive in this much-needed centre and Western Australians will benefit from the jobs that are being created," Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery said.
With the project now in the planning stage, construction is expected to be completed during the 2022 school year.
The project is part of the McGowan Government’s WA Recovery Plan and is expected to create an additional 37 jobs.
“The announcement of the local architect is the first step in building this much needed performing arts centre and sports hall for the Pinjarra community," Murray-Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke said.
“As a parent, I know what a difference state-of-the-art facilities make on a child’s future which is why I was pleased to support their campaign for this investment in education."
