Major Crash Investigation Section officers are seeking information regarding a fatal crash in San Remo last night, Wednesday 3 July 2019.
About 9:20pm Traffic Enforcement Group officers were on patrol in the San Remo and surrounding area when they observed a motorcycle that appeared to be speeding on Mandurah Road. The officers attempted to stop the rider of the Harley Davidson motorcycle at the intersection of Britawast Road and Guillardon Terrace. The rider failed to stop and accelerated away, and the attempt to stop the motorcycle was aborted.
A short time later the same officers stopped an unrelated vehicle on Orestes Street, San Remo. Upon stopping the vehicle the officers located a motorcycle crashed into a fence at a residence on Orestes Street. It was the same motorcycle that the officers had tried to stop several minutes earlier.
The attending officers provide emergency first aid to the rider, who is believed to be a man in his 40’s. St John Ambulance attended and took the man to Peel Health Campus, where he died.
Major Crash Investigation Section officers are investigating the circumstance surrounding the crash, with oversight from the Internal Affairs Unit due to the earlier attempt to stop the motorcycle.
Anyone with information regarding the crash, or who saw the Harley Davidson motorcycle being ridden prior to the crash, is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
