Man in custody after Perth library stabbing

WA Police have charged a man following an alleged stabbing incident outside the State Library of WA in Perth.

Around 2:30pm yesterday, the 47-year-old man allegedly became involved in a verbal argument with the victim, who is know to him, before he stabbed him in the stomach and fled the scene. 

A short time later, police were able to locate the man in the Murray Street Mall and he was subsequently taken into custody and charged with intent to do grievious bodily harm and does grievous bodily harm to another. 

The 54-year-old male victim was conveyed by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital where he underwent immediate surgery. 

The 47-year-old Belmont man will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today.
