Nominations now open for Community Citizen of the Year award

Nominations are now open for the 2024 Community Citizen of the Year Awards, to be presented at Mandurah’s Australia Day celebrations in January.

The awards recognise and celebrate individuals and groups that have made outstanding positive contributions to the Mandurah community across many different areas.

This includes education, health, fundraising, charitable and volunteering services, business, sport, arts, the environment, social inclusion or
any other area that contributes to the advancement and wellbeing of a community.

Mayor Rhys Williams encouraged the community to nominate local champions, including the many quiet achievers, who would be deserving of this recognition.

“There are so many people doing wonderful things in Mandurah, giving their time, energy and care to make Mandurah an even better place to live, work and visit,” Mayor Williams said.

“It’s time to bring these people into the spotlight and give them the recognition they deserve. From our educators, volunteers, community leaders, businesspeople, creative minds, and those who support others, there are many people working behind the scenes to bring out the best in community spirit.

“If you know a local star who goes above and beyond to make a positive, special difference to Mandurah, nominate them for the 2024 Community Citizen of the Year Awards.”

The categories include Community Citizen of the Year, Senior Community Citizen of the Year (65 years and over), Young Community Citizen of the Year (25 years and under), and Active Citizenship Award (for a group or event).

Nominations are open until Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

This year’s Community Citizen of the Year winners were Natasha Upcott, Baylee Freitag, Kaye Seeber and Marine Rescue Mandurah.
