Dredging works at Point Peron Boat Harbour are now complete, improving safe navigability of the harbour for boaties.
Work began in deeper waters on the north side of the limestone breakwater at the boat harbour entrance, before moving southward towards the boat ramps.
Mayor Deb Hamblin said the project was an action in the City’s Coastal Facilities Strategy.
“Point Peron Boat Launching Facility is the most popular boating facility in the City and is enjoyed by locals and visitors from across WA year-round,” Mayor Hamblin said.
“The dredging was required as part of the regular maintenance to provide a safe and efficient boating experience for the community.
“This project is the latest in a long line of improvements the City has made at the Point Peron Boat Launching Facility. In 2020 the City built two new boat ramps (making it six in total) and installed two new reversing bays.
“In 2021 the City expanded and upgraded the carpark at the facility, and in 2022 the nearby Point Peron Spur Groyne was upgraded to provide safer conditions for people launching and retrieving their vessels.”
