Police are on the hunt for two teenage boys who bashed and carjacked a young nurse in Lakelands.

Tamryn Parkes, 20, said she gave the pair, who she had just met, a lift home from a house warming party in Golden Bay early Sunday morning before they asked her to pull over near the intersection of Kerikeri Heights and Winslow Crescent in Lakelands.

"They asked me to pull up onto a corner, I thought it was their house, then I turned to them and next minute they punched my throat into the side of the car window," Ms Parkes told Nine News.

Ms Parkes said she was choked before the boys ran off with her car keys.

"I chased after him saying 'give me my keys back', and then they came back and the assault continued."

The attack which lasted 10-minutes left Ms Parkes with a broken finger, scratches and bruises.

The two boys then stole Ms Parkes' silver Mazda 3 which was later found abandoned nearby.

The 20-year-old from Singleton sought help from a nearby house and police were called.

One boy is described as light skinned and the other dark skinned, both aged in their late teens.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity between 1.15am and 1.40am who may have seen or heard the attack.
