Peel Thunder have suffered a devastating grand final defeat at the hands of East Fremantle at Optus Stadium.

Over 27,000 fans turned out on Sunday to support their teams in the 2023 WAFL grand final.

East Fremantle kicked the first three goals of the game setting up what would be a triumphant 12.13 (85) to 6.10 (46) win for the Sharks, their first WAFL premiership in 25 years.

Peel managed to get to within 14-points of the Sharks at the main break but they just couldn't keep up in the second half, eventually going down by 39-points.

Travis Colyer scored two goals for the Thunder while Corey Wagner racked up 31 possessions and 15 tackles.

Nathan Wilson was also a standout with 26 disposals.

While they didn't secure their third WAFL premiership, Peel had a stellar 2023 season finishing third on the ladder.
