Three local teams have been knocked out of the race for an NBL1 West championship.
MANDURAH MAGIC WOMEN
The Mandurah Magic women gave it all they had in their preliminary final clash with the Cockburn Cougars on Saturday night.
The Cougars were in control majority of the game, leading by as much as 24 points in the third quarter.
The Magic managed to bring the game back within 10 points with just under two minutes remaining but Cockburn proved too good, prevailing 88-75.
The win will see the Cougars advance to their first ever women's grand final on Friday night.
ROCKINGHAM FLAMES WOMEN
The Rockingham Flames women were also in battle on Saturday night in their preliminary final with the Willetton Tigers.
It was neck-and-neck throughout the match, with neither team leading by more than three points in the third quarter.
Rockingham then led by seven points with two minutes remaining before Willetton made a huge comeback eventually winning 81-78.
The Tigers will now meet with the Cougars in the women's NBL1 West Grand Final.
ROCKINGHAM FLAMES MEN
On the back of winning both the NBL1 West and National Championships in 2022, the Rockingham Flames proved they were still the best in the business this season finishing at the top of the ladder.
The Flames won their first eight games before dropping the next three.
They then responded with 11 consecutive victories in the regular season before defeating the Perry Lakes Hawks in the qualifying final which set up Saturday's preliminary final with the Joondalup Wolves.
The Flames led 25-19 at the end of the first quarter before extending that lead to nine early in the second.
The Wolves then clawed their way back, leading by 14 points in the third quarter, but the Flames managed to score the next eight, making it a one-point game with just six minutes to play.
The final minutes were anyones game, but Joondalup scored a late three-pointer sealing the 97-94 point win at Mike Barnett Sports Complex.
The Flames will still participate in the National Finals in Perth this month being the reigning National champions.
