The City will offer free events and activities from November 11 to 17.

Seniors Week is an annual national event that celebrates seniors and recognises the positive contribution they have made to their local community.

To celebrate Seniors Week 2018, nine events will be held for seniors at the City’s libraries and the Autumn Centre throughout November.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said Seniors Week is a fantastic opportunity to acknowledge the contribution older people have made to the City over the years.

“Seniors make up a significant proportion of our community, about 16 per cent of all residents, and the City highly values the contribution they make to our society,” Mayor Sammels said.

“Seniors across our community have played a vital role in helping the City become the fantastic place that it is today. The hard work, vision and passion they have demonstrated in forging our community should be an inspiration to all residents.

“The City has a range of exciting activities for Seniors Week 2018 and I encourage all of our seniors to come and join in the fun.”

Events to be held across the City for Seniors Week 2018 include Chair Yoga for beginners, crochet baskets making, Akwaaba drumming workshops and water colour paintings.
