The community is being invited to name four crane towers that are helping to build the new Mandurah Hospital.
The cranes will become prominent features of the Mandurah skyline over the next few months while the new hospital is being constructed.
The new $950.6 million facility is being built next to the existing Peel Health Campus.
To celebrate the milestone, Mandurah residents, local schools, sporting clubs and Peel Health Campus staff are being encouraged to submit names for the cranes.
The winning names will be displayed on large flags flown from each crane.
Each crane has been assigned one of four themes:
• Health and Healing: names that reflect care, compassion, healing and the people who support the health and wellbeing of the community.
• Bindjareb Country and Connection: names inspired by Bindjareb Country, waterways, land, culture, belonging and connection to place.
• Dreaming Big: names full of imagination, creativity and big ideas.
• Future Ready: names inspired by innovation, progress and Mandurah's future.
Participants are asked to submit their chosen crane name along with a brief explanation outlining why they selected the name and how it aligns to the nominated theme.
Entries close on Friday, November 27.
"The new Mandurah Hospital is one of the biggest health infrastructure projects ever delivered in the Peel region and these tower cranes have become a visible symbol of the investment we're making in the future of Mandurah and surrounding communities," Member for Mandurah Rhys Williams said.
"As construction continues to transform the skyline, we wanted to give the community an opportunity to be part of the project."
Winners will be notified by email and invited to attend a celebration showcasing their chosen names.
