The Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest has won Gold for the third year in a row at the Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards.

Celebrating 20 years this year, Crab Fest once again received the award for Major Festivals & Events at the Tourism Council of WA Gala Dinner in Perth.

Crab Fest will now go on to represent WA at the Australian Tourism Awards in Launceston next year.

City of Mandurah Mayor Rhys Williams said Crab Fest is an outstanding event and I’m so proud of our team, local businesses and the community for all their hard work.

“The awards recognise WA’s leading tourism operators and it’s an honour for the City to be acknowledged on this level. Crab Fest is a significant event which contributes to WA’s tourism calendar.

"I would also like to congratulate Mandurah Boat & Bike Hire and Mandurah Cruises for their award nominations on the night.

“Crab Fest is unique, it is the only crab festival in Australia and is WA’s largest free event.

“Each year the festival showcases Mandurah to national and international markets, promoting our amazing waterways, unique landscapes, home grown produce and relaxed alfresco lifestyle.

“This year more than 100,000 people attended the weekend, delivering around $8.2 million to the local economy helping our local businesses and community.

“Thank you also to the State Government for their ongoing support of the event, through Tourism WA’s Regional Events Program, made possible by Royalties for Regions. The festival was also proudly sponsored by Healthway promoting the LiveLighter message,” Mr Williams said.
