Amateur photographers in the City of Rockingham have less than a month left to enter the 2019 Act-Belong-Commit PhotoVoice Rockingham Competition.
Participants have until 4pm on Friday 16 August to submit an entry to be shortlisted for the 2019 PhotoVoice Exhibition, which will be held at the Gary Holland Community Centre from Wednesday 18 September to Wednesday 9 October.
PhotoVoice encourages people to take a photo and add a caption or ‘voice’ to their image which shows how they act, belong and commit to looking after their mental health.
Selected images in the three week competition will go in the running to win cash prizes in their respective categories. All photos in the competition will be judged on their composition and communication of the Act-Belong-Commit message.
Category winners will be announced at an awards evening on Wednesday 9 October 2019 at the Gary Holland Community Centre. During the exhibition visitors will also be able to vote for their favourite piece in the public choice category, which will also be announced during the awards night.
City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels encouraged residents of all ages to make a submission before the deadline.
“For more than 10 years PhotoVoice has given amateur photographers a platform to demonstrate their creative abilities to the community,” Mayor Sammels said.
“This year there are variety of categories available for participants to enter and showcase how they keep mentally healthy, with cash prizes available.
“Each year hundreds of people enter and I encourage all residents with a keen eye for photography to consider entering this year’s awards.”
Entries in the competition must be made online. For more information on how to enter visit www.rockingham.wa.gov.au/photovoice
