Free RATs available to close contacts with no symptoms at Mandurah, Kwinana vaccination hubs

Free rapid antigen tests (RATs) are up for grabs for close contacts who have no symptoms.

New rules which came into effect last week mean asymptomatic close contacts no longer have to isolate for seven days but they do need to take a daily RAT before leaving the home.

To ease financial pressure on households, the State Government is now offering 10 free RATs to confirmed asymptomatic close contacts from today, May 2.

"I understand that for many asymptomatic close contacts the requirement to take a daily RAT prior to leaving home, could place added pressure on their household budget," Premier Mark McGowan said.

"That's why from today, the State Government will provide ten free RATs to confirmed asymptomatic close contacts."

The RATs can be collected from several vaccination clinics across Perth including at Mandurah, Kwinana, Armadale, Claremont, Midland, Joondalup, Mirrabooka, Ellenbrook and the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The kits are also available in regional areas including t Albany Health Campus, Hedland Health Campus, Broome Hospital, Geraldton Hospital, Kalgoorlie Hospital and Narrogin Hospital.

People will be required to verbally confirm they are a close contact and will be able to collect RATs for other close contacts within their household.

Asymptomatic close contacts are also required to wear a mask when outside the home and avoid high-risk settings.
