The Member for Canning wants residents with poor phone coverage to nominate their area for a funding boost to improve coverage.
Member for Canning Andrew Hastie used a parliamentary speech to call for his constituents to nominate black spot locations in regards to mobile coverage.
Mr Hastie said residents in Canning were strongly encouraged to nominate mobile phone black spot locations in their area to help inform the rollout of the next round of the Coalition’s $220 million Mobile Black Spot Program.
A survey will be open for four weeks, calling on Canning residents to vote on the mobile black spots that need funding.
“I encourage residents of Canning to head to my website at https://www.andrewhastie.com.au/canningblackspots and vote for the black spots they want funded,” he said.
“The locations listed are where I’ve previously received the most feedback on. You can also call or email my office to nominate a site.
“Your feedback strengthens my case as I fight in Canberra to get better mobile phone service for our region.”
Nominations will support round four of the program, which will look to provide new or improved mobile coverage in areas where there are clear economic and social benefits.
“We’ve already funded four mobile base stations under the Mobile Black Spot Program in Waroona, Dwellingup, Lake Clifton and Serpentine/Keysbrook. However there are still some sites that need attention,” Mr Hastie said.
The project will also look to target medical, educational and emergency services facilities, as well as along key transport routes and in towns that experience seasonal demand due to tourism.
Round four will invest $25 million into the $220 million program.
