A man has been charged after he allegedly bashed a young delivery driver in Pinjarra before stealing his car and leading police on a chase that ended in Kelmscott.
The 29-year-old allegedly approached the 19-year-old delivery driver as he was getting into his vehicle on George Steet around 11.50pm on Sunday.
The accused then allegedly punched the victim several times before stealing his black Toyota Yaris.
The teenager suffered multiple fractures to his jaw.
"A short time later, police observed the stolen vehicle on the South Western Highway in Mundijong," a WA Police spokesperson said.
"Officers activated emergency lights and sirens however it will be alleged the accused ignored direction and continued to drive away from police."
The vehicle was followed through the suburbs of Armadale, Mundijong and Kelmscott until it crashed through a brick wall surrounding the front yard of a home on Parkfield Road.
Police arrested the accused a short time later following a brief foot chase.
The Baldivis man has been charged with a string of offences including aggravated robbery, stealing a motor vehicle, assault occasioning bodily harm, no authority to drive, reckless driving to escape pursuit and criminal damage or destruction of property.
He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
