Cold Case detectives have charged a man over an armed robbery at a post office in Safety Bay that happened 26 years ago.
The man, who is now 54, allegedly entered the post office with three other offenders on March 3, 1998.
Two were armed with shotguns, one was armed with a knife and the fourth person was armed with a baseball bat.
The men, who had their faces covered, forced employees into the rear office and demanded they open the safe.
The offenders stole a sum of money before running into the carpark where they threatened members of the public.
They fled the area in a stolen vehicle.
More than two decades after the incident, police have charged a 54-year-old Pingelly man with aggravated armed robbery and two counts of stealing a motor vehicle.
He is next due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, December 11.
The three other offenders are still at large.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information relating to this incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.crimestopperswa.com.au
