A man has been fined after his dog attacked a woman in North Yunderup.
Joshua Zi Hoffman appeared in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to a dog attack or chase causing physical injury and a dog not held by a leash in certain public places.
Shire of Murray prosecutor Ron Porter told the court Mr Hoffman's German Shepherd was seen wandering around Tonkin Drive around 7.35am on June 24.
He said as the dog approached the victim, she gave a wide berth, but the dog lunged towards her and bit her on the thigh.
It then continued to act aggressively before the woman backed away and went home to seek medical treatment.
Rangers spotted the dog wandering on its own later that day and impounded it.
The court heard the dog escaped Mr Hoffman's property while he was at work.
Mr Hoffman's lawyer said the German Shepherd was usually kept in a fenced area and his client has since installed an $800 electric fence to prevent the dog escaping again.
Magistrate Anne Longden thought Hoffman had taken appropriate measures and ordered him to pay a $1200 fine and $225 in costs.
