Direct flights from Perth to Shanghai are set to be trialed, after an announcement from the State government.
The five-week trial will run from January 15, 2020 until February 17, 2020.
Three flights per week will be ran by China Eastern Airlines over the peak Chinese New Year season.
Not only will the flights carry people, but 15,000kg of rock lobster will be taken per flight to be sold in mainland China.
Premier Mark McGowan said securing the trial took a lot of time and effort, but are "on a mission" to secure direct flights.
"Having never flown directly to Perth, these China Eastern direct flights will make it that much easier for Chinese visitors to access the great tourism experiences we have to offer in Western Australia," Premier McGowan said.
"More direct aviation access from China and other key markets makes it easier for people to have a holiday in Western Australia and in doing so it benefits WA jobs and our local economy."
