Ten businesses and organisations in the Peel region will share in $1.104 million funding under the State Government's Regional Economic Development Grants program.
The RED Grants program supports locally driven projects to create jobs, build skills, and drive new opportunities.
The successful recipients include Mitchell's Livestock Transport who received $180,000 to establish a livestock trailer fabrication and maintenance workshop.
The funding will enable Mitchell’s to fabricate and refurbish livestock trailers and cattle pens and perform major repairs and maintenance on 30 prime mover trucks.
The project will create 2.5 full-time jobs within 6 months of project completion and employ one new apprentice or trainee.
Another successful recipient, Mandurah Glass, will use their $180,000 grant towards the purchase and installation of a vertical glass processing machine.
The new equipment will automate precision shaping, drilling and edge finishing, reducing outsourcing and manual handling, increasing safety and productivity.
A $98,071 grant will support Boodja Ventures, a 100 percent Aboriginal-owned and operated enterprise to procure a specialised mobile cuisine unit capable of servicing remote tourism assets and regional events.
While Waroona-based Drakesbrook Hotel Motel have also been awarded $150,000 to expand their accommodation capacity through the development of a new caravan and camping area.
The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale received $120,000 for RV park upgrades, Murphy’s Irish Pub was awarded $80,000 for their Sky Deck, Brewvino Bar Kitchen & Lounge received $75,000 for their Sky Garden and $81,761 was awarded to Lake Navarino Holiday Park to revitalize their heritage structures and recreational offerings.

“Through the RED Grants program, we’re investing in Mandurah’s future by helping local businesses and organisations create jobs, build skills, and drive new opportunities.
“These grants give local people and businesses the tools they need to innovate and succeed building a stronger, more resilient community for the years ahead.”
