The Peel District Cycling Club returned to Kwinana Motorplex for the latest round of criterium racing.

While numbers were thin, thanks to The Ring series in Gnangara and other competitions in Rockingham and Champion Lakes, racing was still at a competitive high.

For the first time in years there was no wind to disrupt races from the junior training event through to the A grade race.

A free training session kicked things off for the day with juniors preparing to compete with riders like octogenarian John Mogg in E grade.

Tony De Silva managed to break away and claim the E grade win with Mogg trailing him the whole way to secure a second place victory ahead of John Bywater.

Through D grade Ashton Sime attacked the course and managed a comfortable win with Tom Power and Steve Ball in tow.

C grade was aggressive at times and conservative at others, in the end it was a bunch sprint with Callum Hunter taking the win, from newly promoted Adam Jones second and Gavin Keane third.

Time Trial expert Pete Mills attacked early in B grade and tried to establish a break, but he was pulled back and Adam Wise took the opportunity to secure himself a win while Chaice Kelly Wilson claimed second place and Michael Jansen in third.

Despite a smaller group for A grade the race was still aggressive from the get go with the first fifteen minutes making it hard to establish a winner.

That was until Luke Colum managed a small break shortly followed by Liam Magowan.

Magowan faltered, then Jay Lindorff, younger brother of National Under 19 Road Race Champion and Peel member Tyler Lindorff, seized the opportunity and set off in pursuit of Colum, destroying the bunch behind him.

With two laps to go, Lindorff attacked the few riders that remained, and Lindorff took the win.

Jordan Dawson rode an impressive final lap to close in on Lindorff and secure second while Oliver Bleddyn impressed in his A grade debut as he placed third.

Next Sunday afternoon sees criterium racing in the centre of Wellard Village, with the Ring Series coming to Rockingham.
