The Shire of Waroona is inviting residents to free, locally accessible events, to reflect, respect & celebrate Australia Day.
This Australia Day, the community can choose from events in Waroona, Lake Clifton, and Preston Beach.
First Nations residents will participate through a Welcome to Country, a Smoking Ceremony, Flag Raising Ceremony and Indigenous art.
They will also celebrate the active, outstanding citizens of the year and exhibit local artwork showcasing the diverse local landscapes, from sea to scarp.
There will be entertainment for the whole family with local musicians, an award-winning roaming magician, classic car displays and a foam party for the children to cool down with fun & laughter.
Shire President Mike Walmsley said that the Shire will continue the tradition of reflecting on our journey as Australians by celebrating our enviable way of life and building the connections that foster inclusiveness and community strength.
“A special part of these events is highlighting the committed volunteers for their contribution. I sincerely encourage all our residents to attend any of the Australia Day celebrations across the Shire.” Cr Walmsley said.
