Read the statement from the Shire.
As of 12:00pm Monday 23 March, several Shire facilities including the Waroona Library and Recreation and Aquatic Centre have closed to the public in light of stage one Australian and State Government social distancing directions.
The Recreation and Aquatic Centre has ceased operations until further notice, with all memberships placed on hold.
Centre staff are available to answer enquiries by calling 08 9733 2389 or emailing reccentre@waroona.wa.gov.au
While most Library operations have stopped and the facility is not accepting drop-in visitors, a ‘takeaway’ service is continuing through its online catalogue with orders being taken over the phone or by email. Please refer to the online catalogue for other resources. A delivery service is also being investigated which will especially cater for its most at-risk members. Advice will be issued to members shortly.
To view the online catalogue visit https://www.waroona.wa.gov.au/community/facilities/library.aspx and for further information email library@waroona.wa.gov.au or call 08 9733 7822.
While the Waroona Visitor Centre has closed, an information service is still being offered via email visitorcentre@waroona.wa.gov.au or Facebook @VisitWaroona.
Chief Executive Officer Mr. Dean Unsworth reminds members of the community to conduct their business with the Shire over the phone or via email in the first instance.
“It is important in this unprecedented time that we do all we can to slow the spread of the virus by practicing social distancing especially minimising our exposure to others.
“Follow the advice and legislated rules and perform your civic duty as only through unity in approach can we combat this virus and its devastating impact,” he said.
