Brand MP Madeleine King has officially been sworn into Anthony Albanese's cabinet at Government House.
Ms King, who represents City of Rockingham and Kwinana residents, has been appointed Minister for Resources and Northern Australia.
She previously held the Trade portfolio in opposition.
"I am honoured to be named as the Minister for Resources and Northern Australia in the Albanese Labor Government," her Facebook post read.
"The resources sector is vitally important for Australia’s economic future, and I am excited about the rich endowment of rare earths and critical minerals alongside our traditional minerals industries."
Ms Brand was the only Western Australian to be chosen in Mr Albanese's 23 person cabinet, 10 of which are women, which is an Australian record.
