The City of Mandurah is reminding landowners to prepare their properties for the upcoming fire season.
Chief Executive Officer Mark Newman said bushfire safety is a shared responsibility between the City of Mandurah, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) and property owners.
“During the year, the City undertakes a number of preventative initiatives to help residents be better prepared in the case of a bushfire," Mr Newman said.
"This includes prescribed burning, fire management plans, vegetation management strategies, fire breaks, community education and enforcement.
“Preventative measures not only help reduce the risk to life and property, but also protects our valued ecology which can be devastated by high intensity bushfires."
All properties within the city are inspected for fire safety, and fire prevention requirements must be actioned by November 17, 2019 and maintained until May 31, 2020.

The City was also recently successful in a bid for extra funding for bushfire mitigation works for 2019/2020.
Close to $290,000 in Mitigation Activity Funding has been granted to the City by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services Rural Fire Division, enabling a range of mitigation works to take place in Mandurah to reduce the impact of bushfires.
