A man who struck a police officer in the head with a samurai sword in Rockingham has been found guilty of attempted murder.
After a five day trial and three hours of deliberation, the jury convicted Milos Radovic, 46, of attempting to murder Senior Constable Andrew Swift in July 2017.
The incident took place at a home in Rockingham that belonged to Radovic's ex-wife and his three children.
During the trial, the court heard Senior Constable Swift and his partner Constable Natalie Sgherza attended the home after Radovic breached a violence restraining order, prohibiting him from contacting his children and their mother.
The officers were then confronted with Radovic who held a samurai sword in two hands above his head and came at Senior Constable Swift.
He then forcefully struck him with the 1.2m samurai sword, causing a 10cm wound to his head and fracturing his skull.
Radovic claimed the sword accidentally fell on top of Senior Constable Swift’s head after he was tasered.
Despite being injured, Senior Constable Swift and his partner were able to arrest and detain Radovic.
He will be sentenced in January.
