Mandurah Mayoral candidate Peter Jackson says he'll put the focus on what is working well in the City if he's elected on October 21.
The North Ward Councillor, radio broadcaster and school teacher Peter Jackson is one of four candidates running for the top job at next month's local government elections.
The father of five said a great problem at the moment is the negative Mandurah narrative.
"That controls things like business confidence which controls investment and employment so it's really important we grab that narrative and really work it.
"There is so much good happening out there, we need to concentrate, move the spotlight if you like, onto what is good about our city.
"I think to put things into context is really important and yes there are issues in the area of employment, there are drug issues as there are in every community in this state.
"If you look at the news objectively, you'll see that these things that we're getting targeted for are happening everywhere.
"if we're going to say something about the City, let's get it right."
Over the last four years Mr Jackson has served as Chairman of the Mandurah Liquor Advisory and the City's Audit and Risk committee, MAPTO Board member, Community Grants Panel member, and on the City's Executive and Planning committees.
"I know the challenges facing families and young adults.
"I'm passionate about building capacity and realizing potential in people and projects."
