Police chase Orelia man in stolen Audi missing two tyres

An Orelia man has been charged after allegedly evading police in a stolen Audi through several suburbs including through a park and down a set of stairs.

It happened just after 5.30pm on Tuesday when officers tried to pull over a stolen Audi TT in Bibra Lake but it took off and evaded police through a number of streets in Yangebup.

A short time later, police successfully set up a tyre deflation device on Wattleup Road in Hammond Park, however the car continued evading police through streets in Hammond Park and through to North Coogee.

The car then left the road and entered a park off Lucretia Circle in Coogee where it went down a set of stairs and continued on through further streets.

At this point, the vehicle was missing two tyres.

Another tyre deflation device was deployed on Russell and Rockingham Roads, however the car continued through red traffic lights but eventually came to stop on Rockingham Road.

Police say the driver fled but was caught soon after.

A 40-year-old man has been charged with aggravated fail to stop, reckless driving, steal motor vehicle and possess prohibited drug.

He will appear in court at a later date.

The car was allegedly stolen from a residence in Piara Waters in early August.
