A windsurfer has tragically died off the coast of Shoalwater.
Police say the man, in his 50s, was windsurfing in the area when he was found slumped over his board by another windsurfer around 3.30pm on Thursday.
The second windsurfer placed the unresponsive man onto his own board and activated a personal locator beacon which alerted DFES Marine Rescue, police and St John Ambulance.
The windsurfer took the man back to shore along Arcadia Drive between Penguin Road and Seaforth Road after attempting to provide emergency first aid.
Tragically, the man died at the scene.
Anyone who was in the Shoalwater beach area on Thursday afternoon and saw a windsurfer who appeared to be in distress, and who haven’t already spoken to police, are asked to make contact via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
